Fraser Health | Communications & Public Affairs Department

Role: Graphic Designer & Media Specialist

As a digital media communications specialist, I worked closely with the communications and public affairs team at Fraser Health - one of the regional health authorities in B.C.

Within the organization, the communications team responds to both internal and external requests such as strategizing for government communications projects (e.g. Team-Based Care Implementation). Their most important partner would be the Ministry of Health who works closely with the team to deliver crucial health announcements such as the flu outbreak in 2019.

The public affair team was responsible for responding to government announcements that geographically span from Burnaby to White Rock to Hope. In most cases, members of this team would attend ministry events. Many notable achievements during the time I was part of their team were the “Eagle Ridge” and the “Royal Columbian” hospital expansions.

My main responsibility was to oversee and complete video projects, on/ offline graphic design content, and photography. These creative assets would be shared on Fraser Health’s social media channels (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Youtube). Within this department, our priorities were news and announcements as well as executive communication projects. Our main goal is to ensure our staff and the general public are updated on the news about Fraser Health as well as other current health issues. Most of the important announcements that we share with the entire Fraser Health staff, lives on our intranet called FHPulse. One of my main responsibilities was to ensure our highlighted stories were up-to-date so all their employees were aware of key accomplishments and projects Fraser Health is involved in.

For all the video projects I took on, I worked closely with Dixon Tam - a senior public affairs consultant in our department. Together, we would complete the shoots from rough storyboarding to editing the final cuts as seen on Fraser Health’s youtube channel. Dixon managed the logistics as well as coordinating with interviewees, while I managed the art direction and technicality of the entire shoot from filming to editing.
